Smart city bench

The first smart bench in Varna.

NSpot makes its own power from the sun and gives it back to the city - as charging, wireless internet and an information display. Urban infrastructure that modernises public space without adding cost or emissions to it.

The NSpot bench with its solar panel, installed in the Sea Garden in Varna.

The idea

A modern city starts with smarter public infrastructure

The bench is one of the most recognisable elements of public infrastructure and one of the most underrated. NSpot began from one question: what else could it do if it had power of its own - charge phones, hand out internet and show something useful, right where people already stop.

The solar panel covers the daily draw, and hybrid power keeps the choice open: the bench runs entirely on what it generates, or connects to the grid where an installation already exists. The same model fits a park with no cable and a square in the centre of town.

Features

What NSpot does

Phone charging

Three charging outputs, usable at the same time - phone, tablet or watch, with an ordinary cable and no app in the way.

Solar and hybrid power

The panel on top makes the electricity the bench runs on. The hybrid arrangement allows a grid connection too - whichever suits the site.

Information display

A protected 21-inch screen for city announcements, events and advertising. Content changes remotely, and advertising time can cover what the bench costs to run.

Free wireless internet

An open access point for the people around it. No registration, no app, no data collection.

Built for the street

3 mm aluminium sheet and toughened laminated glass, with sealed joints. It takes rain, sun, sea salt and daily use.

Clean power on site

Everything the bench offers runs on sunlight - no new cable, no trenching and no emissions where it stands.

The project

The first smart bench in Varna, in the Sea Garden

The prototype stands by the lake in the Children corner of the Sea Garden. The structure is 3 mm aluminium sheet, bent and cut under production conditions; the electrical work was signed off with certificates from licensed contractors. Every step has a document behind it - that is the difference between city infrastructure in service and an exhibition piece.

The prototype was built with funding from the Municipality of Varna under its Youth Activities programme.

The value

What a city gains from a smart bench

NSpot is not park decoration. It is a small piece of city infrastructure that gives people a service, runs on clean energy and carries the name of whoever put it there.

  1. 01

    A modern public space

Power for a phone, wireless internet and current information exactly where people already spend their time. The upgrade is felt at once, without rebuilding the whole park.

  2. 02

    Ecology you can see

The bench runs on the energy it generates itself. The solar panel is not a symbol - it is the supply, and everyone walking past sees that clean energy does the job in city conditions.

  3. 03

    Corporate responsibility with an address

The display and the body carry space for a brand. For a company that is visible support for the city - something useful that stays where it is put, rather than another billboard.
